Marriage Certificate for passport

  • While applying for a passport, applicants are required to submit various documents as per their eligibility. Based on these documents, the Regional Passport Office issues the passport.
  • Although all documents are important, the marriage certificate is the most crucial for married applicants.
  • Applicants can obtain this marriage certificate from the nearest court or online from the portal, if any.
  • In the absence of a marriage certificate, applicants must provide the Annexure J form.
  • In this form, both husband and wife need to sign a declaration confirming their marriage.
  • They also need to paste their joint photograph.
  • On the appointment day, the other partner must also be present at the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK).

UCC Marriage Certificate

  • Marriage certificate under the Universal Civil Code (UCC) or Uniform Civil Code (UCC).
  • It is issued for Civil Marriage and is recognized only to confirm a valid civil marriage.
  • The process is uniform for all religions.
