When applying for a Passport in India, applicants above 5 years of age are not required to submit, as their live photograph is captured by the officials on the appointment day.
However, minors below 5 years of age must submit a passport-size photograph while applying. The photograph must fulfil all the criteria prescribed by Passport Seva India.
Criteria for a passport size photograph
- The photograph should be in colour with a size of 4.5x3.5 cm (45mm x 35 mm)
- The background must be white.
- The face must take up 85-90% of the photograph.
- The minor must look straight at the camera with eyes open, and both ears visible.
- The photo should be capture the full head, from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin.
- There should be no headband on the hair.
- The face must be clean, and there should be no Tilak on the forehead or anywhere.
