- In India, the Identity Certificate (a yellow colour booklet) is generally issued to Tibetan refugees and stateless people residing in the country.
- It is an official travel document issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
- Under the Passport Act, 1947, it is treated as an identity certificate.

🖥️ How to Apply Online?
- Visit the Passport Seva Portal.
- Register and create an account (if unregistered).
- Login.
- Select 'Apply for Identity Certificate'.
- Fill out the form and upload the required documents.
- 💰 Pay the Fees.
- Fees for identity certificate is Rs 1,000/-
- Select the RPO (Regional Passport Office) and book an appointment date.
- Visit the RPO with all required documents.
- After the permission of RPO, a police verification is conducted.
- Once verified, the identity certificate is dispatched to your address through Speed Post.

✅ Validity of Identity Certificate
- The validity of an Indian Certificate is 10 years.
