  • In India, the Identity Certificate (a yellow colour booklet) is generally issued to Tibetan refugees and stateless people residing in the country.
  • It is an official travel document issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
  • Under the Passport Act, 1947, it is treated as an identity certificate.

๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ How to Apply Online?

  • Visit the Passport Seva Portal.
    • Register and create an account (if unregistered).
    • Login.
    • Select 'Apply for Identity Certificate'.
    • Fill out the form and upload the required documents.
  • ๐Ÿ’ฐ Pay the Fees.
    • Fees for identity certificate is Rs 1,000/-
  • Select the RPO (Regional Passport Office) and book an appointment date.
  • Visit the RPO with all required documents.
  • After the permission of RPO, a police verification is conducted.
  • Once verified, the identity certificate is dispatched to your address through Speed Post.
