Tibetan Refugees Passport Process
🌍 Tibetan Refugees who are residing in India and have obtained an Identity Certificate can apply for an Indian Passport upon fulfilling certain conditions.
✅ Eligibility
- Every Tibetan who was born in India before the commencement of the 2003 Citizenship Amendment Act, and both or either of whose parents were born in India between 26 Jan 1950 and 1 July 1987, is an Indian Citizen by birth under Section 3(1)(b) of the Indian Citizenship Act, 1955.
- Tibetans who were born after the enactment of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2003, may be eligible for a Tibetan Passport provided that one or more of their parents was born in India between 1950 and 1987 and the other was not an illegal immigrant at the time of his/her birth. Such a person is deemed to be an Indian citizen by birth under Section 3(1) (c) of the Indian Citizenship Act, 1955. Hence, he/she is entitled to issue of passport both in India and abroad.
📑Important Document
- Tibetan Refugee Certificate (RC) or Identity Certificate (IC) and proof of its validity.
- Parents documents.
- Aadhaar Card/Voter ID Card.
- Address Proof.
- PAN Card.
- Birth Certificate.
- 10th Certificate.
🌐 How to Apply Online?
- Visit Passport Seva Portal.
- Register (if not registered) and log in with the details.
- Enter the personal and family details.
- Pay the Application Fee.
- Choose the Passport office and schedule an appointment.
- Visit Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) on the scheduled date with all documents.
- Officials will verify your documents.
- After documentation, police verification will be conducted.
- Post police verification, applicants are required to visit the Regional Passport Office (RPO).
- At RPO, applicants need to submit their Identity Certificate or Registration Certificate.
- After this, a passport is issued to applicants, which will be delivered to their address via Speed Post.
💰 Fees
Under the Normal scheme, the passport application fee is Rs 1500/-.
📌 Important Point
- To submit passport applications, Tibetan Refugees can not use the facility of the Tatkal scheme. Hence, they can apply for a passport under the Normal category.
