Passport Renewal Process in India After Renewal Abroad
- If you have renewed your passport abroad and now wish to renew it again after returning to India, you can do so by going through a process similar to the regular passport renewal procedure.
- However, this process cannot be carried out under the Tatkal category.
- The passport renewal can be done online through the Passport Seva Portal.
Online Application Process
- Visit the Passport Seva Portal.
- Register and create an account (if not a registered user)
- Log in with the details.
- Fill out the Application Form
- Select "Apply for Fresh Passport" or "Renewal of Passport".
- Fill in personal details (Name, Address, DOB, etc.)
- Enter family details and emergency contact information.
- Upload the required documents and submit the application form.
- Pay the Application Fees
- The standard fee for a normal Passport Application is Rs 1,500/-
- After payment, select your Passport Seva Kendra/POPSK and book an appointment.
- Visit the Passport Seva Kendra on the scheduled date and carry all documents in original.
- After documents verification at the Passport Office, a police verification will be conducted.
- Once police verification is successful, the passport will be delivered to the provided address via speed post.
Required Documents
- Old Passport.
- Identity Proof
- PVC Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, Ration Card, Driving License or other government identity proof.
- Address Proof
- Utility Bills (Electricity/Water)/ Bank Statement/ Rent Agreement/ PVC Aadhaar Card (with current address)
- Proof of Birth
- PAN Card/ Birth Certificate.
- Marriage Certificate (if married)
- Annexure 'J' form in the absence of a marriage certificate (if you are married)
- Academic documents.
Processing Time
The passport renewal process generally takes 15 to 25 days.
