Passport Delivery Process
- Ques 1. How will I receive my passport once it is ready?
Answer: Once the passport is ready, the RPO will deliver it to the address mentioned in your application form via speed post. The postman will collect it from the post office and deliver it to your address. You are not required to visit the RPO or the post office to collect it. You must be present at home at the time of delivery. In your absence, the passport can also be received by your parents or spouse.
- Ques 2. What should I do if I am not present at home when the passport is delivered?
Answer: If you are not at home, your passport can be collected by your spouse or parents. Otherwise, the postman will mark it as undelivered and return it to the RPO. After this, you will need to book an appointment with the RPO, and the postman will attempt the delivery again.
- Ques 3. How can I receive my passport if it is returned without delivery?
Answer: If your passport is not delivered for any reason, such as you are not at home or the address is incomplete or incorrect, it will be sent back to the Regional Passport Office (RPO). To receive it you have to schedule an appointment with the RPO, and on the appointment day, you have to explain why the passport was not delivered. After satisfactory verification, your passport will be sent again, and delivered by the postman.
