If the Father is Living Abroad

  • If the father is living abroad, he must provide a SON certificate and Annexure 'D' for the minor's passport application.
  • This certificate must be attested by the Indian Embassy or Consulate in the country where the father resides.
  • In this certificate, the father declares that he has no objection to the issuance of a passport for his child.
  • Along with the SON certificate and Annexure 'D' form, a copy of the father's passport is mandatory, which he can send through the post.
  • After receiving these documents, the child's mother in India can submit them along with Annexure 'C'. In this form, she mentions that the child's father is living abroad and she is applying for the child's passport.
  • For minor applicants, documents are verified by the parents. After submission and police verification, the passport is issued to the minor.
  • Once all documents, including Annexure 'C' and 'D', are verified, the passport is issued to the minor under the normal application process.

Note*

  • This process cannot be done under the Tatkal category.
  • Under the Tatkal service, the presence and consent of both parents are mandatory, and both parents must have valid passports.

Required Documents

  • Child's Birth Certificate.
  • Child's Aadhaar Card.
  • Valid Passport of both parents (both mother and father must have passports)
  • Current Address proof (parents or guardians)
  • Annexure 'D' form (parents giving consent for child passport)
  • Annexure 'C' form (if one of the parents is absent)
  • Child's photograph (if the child's age is less than 4 years)
