Passport applications can generally be submitted under two categories: Normal (General) and Tatkal. Applications submitted under the Normal category usually take more time to process, while the Tatkal service ensures the quickest passport issuance. The Tatkal service can be used for various purposes, including applying for a new passport, renewing the existing one or availing of other services.
Tatkal Passport
- The appointment date is scheduled quickly under this scheme.
- The passport is issued in a quick interval of time.
- Applicants can only apply once they have fulfilled all the conditions of the Tatkal scheme.
Fees
- To avail of the Tatkal Seva, applicants need to pay an additional fee of Rs 2,000 (excluding the application fees).
- Including the application fee, the total cost of each application is Rs 3,500/-.
