- After completing the entire Passport Application Process, the Regional Passport Office (RPO) dispatches the passport to the applicant's address.
- Generally, the RPO uses India Post Speed Post services for passport delivery.
- Once the passport is dispatched, both India Post and RPO send the passport tracking number to track the passport status.
- The passport is usually delivered to the applicant's address within 3 to 6 days.
What should I do if my passport is delayed or not received within the expected time?
If your passport is delayed or taking longer than the usual time, you can check the delivery status of your passport by following the steps given here: -
- Visit the Passport Seva Portal.
- Click on Track Application Status.
- Enter the File Number and Date or Birth.
- The current status will appear on the screen, which may show details such as Police Verification, Printing, Dispatch, etc.
Police Verification
If your passport application status shows Police Verification Not Clear or Pending, in such cases, contact the LIU (Local Intelligence Unit) officials immediately.
