Under the Normal Scheme

  • If your passport is lost, you must get it renewed or reissued. For this, you must obtain an affidavit from the court and file a Police FIR regarding the lost passport.
  • Apply online for passport renewal and provide all the details of the lost passport.
  • In case you don't have a copy or any details of the lost passport, you must obtain it from the RPO (Regional Passport Office), and then visit the Passport Seva Kendra with the required documents.
  • It takes around 20 to 25 days to renew or reissue a lost passport.
  • If the lost passport is still valid, you have to pay a fee of Rs 3,000/-.
  • If the lost passport has already expired, the applicable fee is Rs 1,500/-.

Under the Tatkal Scheme

A lost passpost cannot be renewed under the Tatkal scheme; it will always be renewed under the normal scheme only.
