For a name change

  • If your name has changed, you will need to update it in your passport by filling out the passport renewal application form.
  • For this, you must publish two public notices in the newspapers (one in a local and one in a national newspaper) mentioning the name you wish to use.
  • Also, you must provide an updated ID proof that indicates your new name. For this, you can submit your Aadhaar card, PAN Card, or Driving License, along with your old passport.
  • In case of a name change after marriage, you must submit your marriage certificate.

For Address Change

If your current address has changed, you need to apply for a passport renewal with new address proof, along with your old passport.

Passport Application Process

  • Apply online at the Passport Seva Portal.
  • Register on the portal, if you are not a registered user.
  • Log in and fill out the renewal form.
  • Enter personal and family details.
  • Pay the application fee.
  • Select the PSK/POPSK to book an appointment.
  • Visit PSK/POPSK on the appointment date, carrying all documents in original.
  • Officials will verify your documents and forward your application for police verification.
  • After successful police verification, the RPO issues the passport, which is sent via Speed Post to your registered address.

Note*

Remember, a Name change in a passport cannot be processed under the Tatkal category.
