How to renew a Passport that is over 10 years old?

✅ Passport Renewal process (If it is more than 10 years old)

  • If you want to renew a passport issued more than 10 years ago, you can apply for renewal under the Normal Passport Category.
  • To do this, you need to submit an online application through the Passport Seva Portal.
  • For renewal, you must submit your old passport, address proof, birth date proof, and other supporting documents.
  • When renewing a passport that is over 10 years old, ensure that you update details such as appearance, name changes, or address changes if any have occurred.
  • If your passport has expired for more than 3 years, you can apply for renewal under the normal category only, as it cannot be issued under the Tatkal category.

🖥Online Application Process

  • Visit Passport Seva Portal.
  • Log in, if you are a registered user (Register if you are a new user)
  • Choose renewal or reissue of a passport.
  • Enter your personal and family details.
  • Fill in your old passport details.
  • Pay the Application Fee.
  • Choose your nearest Passport Seva Kendra (PSK)/ Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK)
  • On the scheduled date, visit the PSK/POPSK with all documents.
  • Your biometric will be verified at PSK.
  • After this, your application will go through the police verification process.
  • After successful police verification, your passport will be issued and sent to your address via Speed Post.
  • The entire process usually takes about 15 to 25 days to complete.
