If your current and permanent address details are different, you can provide both in your passport application. However, you must submit valid address proof for both the current and permanent address.
Current Address
- This is the address where you are currently residing, which is different from your hometown or permanent address.
- Example: Rented house, hostel, paying guest (PG) accommodation, company quarters, etc.
- In support, you can submit a Rent Agreement, a bank passbook copy, etc.
- Police verification is generally conducted at your current address.
- In your passport, the current address where you are residing, is usually printed.
Permanent Address
- This address indicates your domiciled place of residence.
- In support of this, you can submit Aadhaar card, voter ID card, Electricity bill, water bill, driving license, ration card, parents' passports, etc.
Ques: Can I submit my passport application from a location different from my permanent address?
Ans: Yes, you can apply for a passport other than your permanent address. However, for this, you must provide a valid address proof for both your current and permanent addresses.
Note: Always submit address details where police verification can be easily completed. If you provide any wrong details, your passport application may be rejected.
