Process of Getting an Appointment at a Passport Seva Kendra (PSK)

• After filling out the passport application form online on the Passport Seva Portal, applicants need to pay the fees. Once the payment is successful, you will get the option to Pay and Schedule an Appointment. Upon clicking the same, you can choose the PSK/POPSK and appointment date from the list as per your convenience.

5. Book an appointment at a Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK)
6. Police Verification will be conducted at the applicant's current address.

• The File Number in a passport is a unique identification number generated during the passport application process.
• The number represents the code of the city or Regional Passport Office (RPO) where the passport application is submitted. For example, DD stands for Dehradun and BL stands for Bareilly, etc.

• This number is used by the passport office at various stages to track and reference all information related to your application.

Diplomatic Passport

• A diplomatic passport is a special passport generally issued to government officials and diplomats for their international travel. In simple terms, it is known as Type D.
• Under international law, this passport comes with certain privileges and exemptions, such as visa exemptions, priority access to services, and other benefits.
• A Diplomatic Passport is issued by the Minister of External Affairs MEA).
• It is of Maroon (Dark Brown) in colour and contains 28 pages.
• Its issuance doesn't require any charge.

• Upon failing the police verification, the applicant needs to book an appointment at the Regional Passport Office (RPO). There, you will be informed about the reason your application file has been put on hold.
• If the file is on hold due to a document mismatch, you have to correct the error and resubmit it for the police verification.
• If any false information is provided during the application submission, the application may also be put on hold.

Indian Citizens residing abroad can apply for Passport services at the Indian Embassy or Consulates.

Passport Mobile Van Seva Camp

• Passport Van Seva is a mobile passport service launched by the Ministry of External Affairs, which provides doorstep Passport services, especially to people residing in rural places.
• With this facility, passport applicants are not required to visit the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK).
• Through this Passport mobile van, applicants can apply for a fresh passport or for the reissue of their existing passport.

There is no difference between passport renewal and reissue, as both are treated the same. The Passport Department doesn't reissue a passport under any condition. A passport is issued only once when you apply for the first time. After that, you can apply for renewal to make changes or if the passport has expired.

Yes, a frequent international traveller can opt for the 60-page booklet; otherwise, they may need to renew their passports frequently. As we know, while submitting a new passport application or applying for renewal, applicants can choose the number of pages they want in their passport. Generally, passports are issued with either 36 or 60 pages, and applicants must select one of these options.

Tibetan Refugees Passport Process

🌍 Tibetan Refugees who are residing in India and have obtained an Identity Certificate can apply for an Indian Passport upon fulfilling certain conditions.

A passport surrender request can be made online from the Passport Seva Portal. However, in certain cases (for example, Diplomatic or Official Passport), it can be requested directly from the Passport Seva. The Regional Passport Office issues applicants a surrender certificate upon such a request.

A Passport Surrender Certificate is an official document primarily issued to applicants who have renounced Indian Citizenship and obtained citizenship of another country. To get this certificate, applicants are required to apply online.
